Can stress be preventing you from losing weight?

Stress has a much bigger effect on your weight and health than you realize. All forms of stress put your nervous system into ‘fight or flight’ mode. This mode is designed to protect you during a crisis. Think of how often you are exposed to stress, any kind of stress; poor diet, lack of exercise, environmental toxins, busy days at the office, a fight with your significant other, or financial concerns.

Can We Change? (new movie)

I truly believe that most of the time...less is more. Sometimes, certain things viewed in certain ways

have the ability to make an impact on our life in a positive way. I think Eleanor Roosevelt said it best, "It

is not fair to ask of others, what you are unwilling to do yourself"

This quote pretty much sums up what this great little 3 minute movie is all about...enjoy!

5 Weight Loss Secrets Most People Ignore

For many people, weight loss is all about reduced caloric intake and developing an iron will. These individuals will typically cut back on the amount of calories that they consume and do their best to stay on course, oftentimes white-knuckling it until they are able to lose weight. While this is obviously helpful and necessary, it for many people, it isn’t enough at least not in the long-term. Many individuals are unable to sustain their weight loss, if they are able to lose weight at all, when they only focus on calorie reduction. An important aspect of dieting that often goes overlooked is goal setting as well as the emotional and mental aspects of weight loss.

Setting goals is extremely important and serves a number of functions. Individuals that are successful, typically set goals. Goal setting helps a person become and stay focused. Goals also act as an alarm. They help to alert an individual when they begin to lose their way and get off course. Goals, when they are being pursued, also increase a person's feelings of well-being and pride, both which are crucial to successful weight loss.

Below, in addition to goal setting, I have taken a look at other important aspects of weight loss. These have nothing to do with food choices and calories. Specifically, I will discuss how dieters can make their mind and emotions their biggest allies in the battle of the bulge.

1. Understand The Importance of Good Health: For some people, losing weight is strictly about looking good. A person might be interested in tightening up their thighs or losing a few inches around their belly because doing so will make them look better. This is fine. There is no harm in using an improved physical appearance as motivation. However, not enough people focus on the health benefits associated with weight loss. Understanding that maintaining a healthy weight is crucial to long-term health can also help motivate individuals to eat right and lose weight, maybe even more so then physical appearance.

2. Develop A Sense of Self-Confidence: Self-confidence is oftentimes lacking amongst those that need to lose weight. Unchecked, this can end up sabotaging an individual’s dieting efforts. An individual has to have confidence that they can develop or exercise self control, stick to a plan and eventually meet their weight loss goals.

3. Make a Declaration of Worthiness: Some people will overeat because they don't believe that they are worth the effort it takes to become and stay healthy. This belief has to change if a person is going to be able to successfully lose weight.

4. Put Goals In Writing: Unfortunately, many individuals fail to write down their goals. When a person fails to do this one simple thing, their dream to lose weight, remains exactly that, a dream. Putting ones dreams to paper, makes them real and is the first step in developing a road map to better health and a slimmed down waistline.

5. Set A Date: Individuals should be sure to set a target date or deadline for their weight loss. This will help propel to them along. Setting a deadline can also encourage dieters to make adjustments when necessary so that they are able to stay on track and fulfill their goals.

Weight loss isn't only about the physical body. There are very strong mental and emotional aspects to losing weight. Until a person is able to gain control over these, chances are they will always struggle to lose weight. An individual can help themselves by identifying and then listing the benefits of losing weight and becoming healthy. Developing self-confidence, putting ones goals in writing and then setting a weight loss deadline, can also be quite beneficial to a person's quest to lose weight.

Discover the Missing Link to Weight Loss - Abbotsford, BC - Oct 23-24

Abbotsford, BC -- Why do so many people lose weight, but then fail to keep it off? There are a number of reasons, but at the end of the day, diets - by themselves - don't work. What does work? I will be sharing my secrets at the upcoming West Coast Women's Show October 23-24, 2010.

And at the 10th Annual West Coast Women's Show, I will explain why diets don’t work. I've seen negative thinking and low self-esteem prevents people from losing weight and keeping it off.  But the same mind that creates these psychological barriers can also eliminate them. The mind is the difference between people achieving their weight loss goals, and wallowing in an endless cycle of yo-yo dieting.

I'll be sharing my system because I see the need to share my knowledge and secrets with more people.
Come on our and hear this revolutionary approach to weight loss at this year's Annual West Coast Women's Show, at the Trade and Exhibition Centre, Abbotsford, BC, on October 23rd and 24th. (http://www.WestCoastWomen.net).

There is a great deal of confusing information about how to lose weight. I know this personally as I used to be confused myself! We are bombarded with so many different fad diets and weight loss plans. Many people try some or all of them but still haven't been able to see lasting results.  I am personally familiar with these struggles and that's really what inspired me to develop this system. I want to help others find the answers they are looking for, to finally achieve lasting and permanent weight loss.

In my presentation, titled "Discover the Missing Link to Weight Loss", I will explain:
•    7 Biggest Myths in Weight Loss that are Sabotaging Your Results
•    4 Costly Misconceptions About Weight Loss Programs
•    5 Deadly Secrets About the Weight Loss Industry
•    4 Mistakes to Avoid When Choosing a Weight Loss Program
•    5 Steps to Choosing a Healthy Weight Loss Program

I will be speaking at 12:30 PM on October 23rd, and at 12:00 on October 24th, at the (Tradex) Trade and Exhibition Centre, in Abbotsford, BC.  Admission to my Consumer Awareness Session will be free with your admission to the West Coast Women's Show.

Hollywood Dieting Secrets

Many of us, if we were honest, would admit to being at least a bit envious of Hollywood stars. They seem to have it all. They have either hit the genetic jackpot or are fortunate enough to be “put together” for special events by a team of professional stylists, trainers and makeup artists. Always slim and perfectly toned, the prevailing thought is that there must be some secret that only they are privy to.

Well, the truth is, there is no secret. Hollywood stars and starlets work extraordinarily hard to stay in shape and eat in such a way that they always look their best. They have to. Their livelihood depends on it. Now, I'm sure not every Hollywood actor, actress or heiress goes about this in a healthy manner, but some do.

Their approaches and 'secrets' seem to be a mixed bag. In essence, they are a bit all over the place. To give you a glimpse into the world of Hollywood dieting, here is a quick run-down of how stars claim they keep their weight down and their appearance up.

Jennifer Lopez or 'J-Lo', the newest judge on the popular television show, American Idol,  purportedly consumes 8 small meals a day. Alicia Silverstone refuses to eat meat. She is a vegan.  Demi Moore follows a high-protein diet. Claudia Schiffer is an admitted green-tea drinker. Nia Peebles stays away from protein. Melanie Griffith likes smoothies and Dianne Sawyer is a fan of cabbage soup. The point is, there is little consensus in Hollywood about what works and what doesn't. One star consumes a strict protein diet and another avoids protein like the plague. As stated above, its a mixed-bag. There is one thing, however, that they may have discovered and which accounts for their plethora of dieting approaches. Everyone is different.
